Chico World Music Festival

Saturday, September 9 | 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. | FREE

There are many peoples and languages on this little blue planet, but we share a common language in music. The annual Chico World Music Festival brings a taste of the world to Chico. The festival is centered on amazing, diverse musical acts and also features local children’s performances, an artisan bazaar, arts and crafts for kids, ethnic food and drink, and a beer garden.

Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna

Chilean Singer-Songwriter

Laxson Stage 2-3 PM | Sycamore Stage 5-6 PM

Pascuala Ilabaca is one of the leading exponents of the new prolific scene of young Chilean singer-songwriters. Her music is rooted in traditional sounds but has the ability to incorporate shades from jazz, pop and rock, and influences gathered throughout her life in such distant places as India or Mexico. On stage, she has a strong scenic presence, almost always armed with her accordion; and her voice has the power to accompany the rhythms and melodies of her band Fauna.

Sitar Trek

Indian funk
Sycamore Stage 1-2 PM | Laxson Stage 4-5 PM

Sitar Trek’s latest release, Sitar Power - The Third Generation, continues their streak of musical hybrids with combinations of classical Indian sitar with funk, calypso, jazz and dance rhythms. Their catchy titles such as “Sitar Trek,” “Raga Jazz” and “East Indian meets West Indian,” show a distinct sense of humor and lightheartedness that makes listening to their incredible sitar music, and music from India, that much more fun.

Pat Hull

Indie/Singer-Songwriter/Soul

Ruth Rowland Taylor Stage 1:30 – 2:30 PM | 3:30 – 4:30 PM

Pat Hull is a folk singer-songwriter whose music intertwines melodic vocals and finger picked guitar to create a dreamy landscape with its unpredictable hooks and interesting turns. Pat's newest release “Marrow” was released this past July and paints an indie folk/rock landscape, so this album, as well as his back catalogue, are absolutely worth a deep dive. His gentle folk missives feel like a time capsule to a lost era, or one that has yet to happen

Pat Hull: guitar/vocals
Michael Bone: bass/vocals
Evin Wolverton: guitar/vocals
Sean Raeside: Percussion
