Chico World Music Festival
Saturday, September 10 | 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. FREE
Hosting music on 4 stages, this free event is an annual Chico State tradition. As in years past, the outdoor main stage will feature a wide range of world music artists; along with the majestic Laxson Auditorium. The Ruth Rowland Taylor stage will once again be featured as a workshop stage, and the ever–popular Kids Stage will highlight the wonderful talent of the North State's children.

Troker
Jazz, Rock & World Music

Troker is an instrumental hard-groove band that fusions jazz, rock & funk with anything they find on the way, leaving behind a Mexican flare. After 10 years of juxtaposing pulp fiction-esque vamps and high-stakes musicianship, Troker knows what it takes to move a crowd.

Karamo Susso with Ousseynou Kouyate
West African Music & Dance

Karamo Susso is a kora player from Gambia West Africa. Growing up in a griot compound in Mali, he started playing kora as a tiny child, and was performing for large crowds before he was even big enough to hold the instrument up by himself. Fully immersed in the tradition, he learned from world-renowned players like his uncles Ballake Sissoko and Toumani Diabate. Karamo will be joined by West African dancer Ousseynou Kouyate.

Arabic Music Quartet
Faisal Zedan, Georges Lamman, Ali Paris, Naser Musa

The Arabic Music Quartet features Faisal Zedan on percussion, Georges Lamman on violin, Ali Paris playing the Qanun and Naser Musa playing the Oud and performing vocals. Arabic Music Quartet brings artists from all over the Middle East to the stages at Chico State.

Matthew Songmaker is an award winning fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist. Among his achievements are winning the hot fiddle and waltz categories at the Western Open Fiddle Contest. He has also opened for legendary country singer Clint Black. Matthew performs with his band, and together they produce a tight, hard-driving trio of Bluegrass music.

French Revival Gypsy Jazz

SonoMusette recaptures the moody, melancholic sound and spirit of mid twentieth-century Paris. French chanteuse, musette accordion, gypsy-jazz guitar, upright bass, and drum kit combine to revive the enchanting songs of a French café.
