Chico State Policy for Large Indoor Events (Laxson Auditorium and Acker Gymnasium)

Per California Department of Public Health a “mega event” are indoor venues with 500 or above capacities. Chico State venues that meet that threshold are Laxson Auditorium and Acker Gymnasium.

What to know for attending an indoor event at Chico State

All guests 2 and older are required to show proof of full vaccination (at least two weeks after last dose) or a negative COVID-19 test PCR 48 hours prior to event or antigen test 24 hours prior to event. Antigen tests must be administered through a medical provider. At-Home tests or self-attestation will not be accepted.

Regardless of vaccination status, masks are required for all guests 2 and older indoors on the Chico State campus. Masks must fit snugly against the side of your face and completely cover the nose and mouth at all times. Masks must be worn at all times unless actively eating or drinking. Gaiters, bandanas, and coverings with exhalation vents are prohibited. For the safety of everyone, guests unable to wear proper face coverings will not be admitted into the venue.


Guests (12 and Older)

Fully Vaccinated

All vaccinated guests 12 and older can show proof of full vaccination to enter an event. Accepted forms of such proof include the following:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card1) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date doses administered)
  • A photo of a vaccination card as a separate document
  • A photo of the guest’s vaccine card stored on a phone or electronic device
  • Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider
  • Digital record that displays the person’s name, date of birth, vaccine dates, and vaccine type

Unvaccinated Guests (12 and Older) - Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test

Unvaccinated guests must provide proof of a negative result from a COVID-19 test administered by a healthcare provider or licensed testing location within 24 hours (for an antigen test) and 48 hours (for a PCR/molecular test) of the event start time to be admitted entry into a Chico State indoor event.

  • Both PCR and antigen are acceptable forms of COVID-19 tests (following the timelines stated above), and test results must be available prior to entry into the event or venue.
  • A hard copy or digital record of test results, which should include the guest’s name and date of when the test was taken, is required.

Children Ages 5 to 11

Chico State allows entry to fans and patrons ages 5 through 11 who provide either proof of full vaccination or a negative result from a COVID-19 test administered by a healthcare provider or licensed testing location within 24 hours for an antigen test or 48 hours for a PCR/molecular test of the event start time.

Accepted forms of proof of vaccination for 5 to 11-year-olds include the following:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card1) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date doses administered)

Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test

Unvaccinated kids in this age group must provide proof of a negative result from a COVID-19 test administered by a healthcare provider or licensed testing location within 24 hours (for an antigen test) and 48 hours (for a PCR/molecular test) of the event start time to be admitted entry to Chico State event.

  • Both PCR and antigen are acceptable forms of COVID-19 tests (following the timelines stated above), and test results must be available prior to entry into the event or venue.
  • A hard copy or digital record of test results, which should include the child’s name, date of birth, and date of when the test was taken, is required.

Children Ages 2 to 4

Per the State of California Health and Human Service Agency, kids ages 2 through 4 will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, administered within 24 hours (for an antigen test) or 48 hours (for a PCR/molecular test) of the event start time, to be admitted entry to a Chico State indoor event.

  • Both PCR and antigen administered by a healthcare provider or licensed testing location are acceptable forms of COVID-19 tests (following the timelines stated above), and test results must be available prior to entry into the event or venue.
  • A hard copy or digital record of test results, which should include the child’s name and the date of when the test was taken, is required.

Children Younger than 2

Children younger than 2 do not need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

What does fully vaccinated mean?

Through February 28, 2022, “fully vaccinated” means two weeks removed from the final dose of a CDC-approved vaccine. Beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2022, “fully vaccinated” shall mean two weeks removed from the final dose of a CDC-approved vaccine and, if eligible, having received a booster shot.
