Chico Performances’ Chico Voices virtual series, supports and highlights local talent.

The next streaming concert event showcases talented Chico jazzband, Bogg. The group has been inspired by bands like The Bad Plus and Robert Glasper, Bogg took to writing new music as well as unique covers of pop hits.

Bogg’s Chico Voices premiere is at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 2. If you can’t make the premiere, the concert event will be available on demand through April 30 for a 48-hour rental.

During the concert event, Chico News & Reviews’ Jason Cassidy joins Bogg on stage for a conversation that gives us a glimpse behind the music.

Before the 2020 quarantine, the band averaged around 100 dates a year and band members form a tight bond on and off stage. On stage it wasn’t uncommon for band members to read each other's minds, and change up a piece of music on the spot.

In the last year, the mind reading has significantly decreased. As is the case with many in the arts community, Bogg has not performed together, or been in the same room together, since February of 2020. This performance as part of Chico Voices not only marks a celebration of local Butte County music, but also the reunion of a band with a deep love and respect for the music they play and for each other.
