Made famous again in the movie Amadeus, Mozart’s Requiem was composed in 1791. The work was commissioned by an anonymous nobleman, who had intended to pass off the mass as his own. Mozart, who was in poor health, composed this powerful work while also writing the opera Magic Flute and with the belief that he was writing his own funeral mass. He died at the age of 35 with the work unfinished.
