“Inspirational music with timeless stories steeped in social consciousness.” - CAL Performances

Famed folk troubadour Arlo Guthrie returns to Chico to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the tale of Alice’s Restaurant massacre. The now infamous incident depicted in the song occurred on Thanksgiving Day 1965, although Guthrie’s hilariously satiric retelling of the tale was released on album in 1967. The song has become a counter-cultural touch point, though it was far too long at the time to fit on a 45 record and receive pop radio airplay. Arlo is a folk musician in the classic sense, and the opportunity to experience the musical monologue that launched his career does not come often.
